'Darr' (1993)

This film is the beginning of what I consider to be Shah Rukh Khan's 'Villain Trilogy': 3 back to back movies where Khan portrayed a complete antagonist, from beginning to end. 'Darr' is what put the young superstar on the map. While Khan has done movies before this one, it wasn't until this film that anyone knew who he was.

Khan plays a completely obsessed lover, who threatens to destroy the object of his desire, and her fiancee. The film sees him in a completely unflattering light with a speech impediment, but one cannot deny the power of his performance during the film. Surprising that the man who was billed after the likes of Sunny Deol and Juhi Chawla in the credits, is now considered the face of Bollywood success.
