In a loose adaptation of 'West Side Story', Shah Rukh Khan plays the neighborhood tough guy, bandana clad with chains and all. It's almost laughable to see Khan bearing teeth and growling every few minutes, but it was a role that did take a backseat to Aishwarya Rai's love story with Chandrachur Singh. Khan played the disapproving brother who stands between their love. It was a curious move for Khan to still be the main hero, but stepping aside romantically to make room for an otherwise less significant actor to get the emotional bulk of the story.
