'Fan' (2016)

Playing a superstar actor may not at all be a risk for the superstar actor that Shah Rukh Khan is himself, but it's definitely a bold move to play a 17 year old fan of said superstar. Doing double duty again, Khan plays a meta-version of himself in 'Fan', while also playing a young boy obsessed with the actor.

Khan had to undergo a lot of physical make up, as well as add special effects to convincingly look like a 17 year old, to varying results. It's a step in the right direction for the superstar to be going to such extreme lengths for his craft, instead of defaulting to roles with which he's had the most success.
