Tiger Shroff’s MUNNAI MICHAEL Is An Homage To Michael Jackson

Son of veteran Jackie Shroff, Tiger Shroff has experienced early box office success with debut film 'Heropanti'. He later followed that up with 'Baaghi', and with 'A Flying Jatt' in the second half of 2016. Lauded more for his physique and dance skills, Tiger's next project plays up that part of his talent as an actor, with a movie where Michael Jackson plays a huge role.

Shroff started his career with director Sabbir Khan in 'Heropanti'. After two films, the duo reunites for 'Munna Michael', a story about a poor dancer who idolizes Michael Jackson. The story is set to be a love triangle between Shroff's character, debutane actress Niddhi Agerwal and the always amazing Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Shroff flexed his comedy chops in 'A Flying Jatt', which seemed more his calling in Bollywood than his other two roles where his wooden acting in dramatic roles was heavily criticized.

While there have been no indications as to what genre of story 'Munna Michael' will fall in, I hope it's a more light hearted affair than anything too serious.

The Cast

The involvement of critically acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui lends a lot more credibility to the film than anything else. Siddiqui has been said to be playing the role of a dance student under the tutelage of Shroff's character. The Producer promises that we'll be seeing Siddiqui in a new avatar, shaking his hips and dancing like he never has before.

Director Sabbir Khan made a huge deal of casting a newcomer in the film opposite Shroff.

The apparent country wide talent hunt ended with the casting of model turned actress Niddhi Agerwal. Not much is known about the actress, except her apparent background and heavy dance training, which was instrumental in landing her the role.

The Controversy

While seemingly an fun movie, 'Munna Michael' has already been marred with controversy. A police complaint has been launched against the makers of the film, by a director by the name of Kritik Kumar Pandey. He alleges that director Sabbir Khan has been working closely with him for a film he wrote entitled 'M J Return' for the last year.

Apparently Khan even promised the director to launch him, however with the announcement of this film, Pandey feels like his work has been stolen and plagiarized, and has launched a complaint accordingly.

This is not the first time that plagiarism has been an issue in Bollywood. The most high profile incident occurred earlier in 2016 with the 'Kriti' / 'Bob' debacle. Since the story broke of the complaint against 'Munna Michael' though, no other updates have been given, and none of the makers of the film have given a statement.

Fan Of M.J.

Tiger Shroff is admittedly a major fan of Michael Jackson. So the actor is taking lots of steps (pun intended) to ensure that his already amazing dance skills are on par in order to play a fan of the music icon himself. While Shahrukh Khan's 'Fan' in the first half of 2016 showcased a movie where a movie star's fan is obsessed with him, it should be interesting to see how 'Munna Michael' develops.
