'MASOOM' (1983)
A heartbreaking story of family, infidelity and tragedy is the basis for the story of 'Masoom'. A classic film which sees a much younger Naseeruddin Shah as a happily married man with two daughters, as a young boy enters their lives, supposedly the son of Shah's character from an extramarital affair. The film also features a young Shabana Azmi, not to mention the debut of actors Urmilla Matondkar ('Bhoot') and Jugal Hansraj ('Mohabbatein') as child artists.
Why you should watch it: The film marks the first ever feature film directed by the internationally acclaimed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur (with two movies on this list alone) who has since then gone on to direct epic movies like 'Bandit Queen' and 'Elizabeth: The Golden Age'.
