SPOTLIGHT: 10 Must Watch Bollywood Movies Of The 80’s

'PARINDA' (1989)

Living up to its tagline of 'the most powerful film ever made', 'Parinda' is a crime drama that is completely counter intuitive to the sort of Indian films that audiences are generally used to seeing. This however, did not deter the film from becoming an iconic movie that helped framed the genre with realistic depictions of crime, violence, relationships and the underworld.

The story of two brothers, one an innocent and the other firmly footed in the murky underworld, 'Parinda' follows the journey of the younger brother's coming to terms with his brother's occupation, while the elder brother frantically tries to shield him from the world he's grown up in.

Why you should watch it: 'Parinda' has made many lists of one of the 100 greatest Indian films ever made. The movie is also the most non-Bollywood film that you'll ever see, not just for the 80's, but even today. It's even been remade into a Hollywood movie, by the same director.
