‘RunningShaadi.com’ (2017) Trailer Features A Fun Story With Unique Concept

With the heavy mass marketing of commercial Bollywood films, smaller projects sort of get sidelined from audiences' notice. With a unique concept, 'RunningShaadi.com' is an interesting movie that features some great up and coming stars that definitely deserves a watch.

And now we are finally treated to the first official trailer for 'RunningShaadi.com'.

Seeing the plight of young couples wanting to be married but facing many obstacles like parental pressure, arranged married and the likes, a group of 3 friends decide to help them in a unique and constructive way.

An innovative young man (Amit Sadh) and an outspoken firecracker (Tapsee Pannu) team up with a computer whiz kid (Arsh Bajwa) to create a website to provide a service to young couples who want to run away together to get married, away from their parents or anything else getting in their way. Basically aiding and abetting.

The trailer is not the cleanest, however the charm of the lead characters and the unique story concept really makes 'RunningShaadi.com' seem like quite a fun film. Produced by Shoojit Sircar, ('Piku') the film takes a situation that has been a staple for Indian movies for decades, (arranged vs love marriage) and creates a plot that centers around it. It feels very similar to that of 'Band Baaja Baaraat', but possibly with more of a socially relevant story.

In a culture where honor killings are a very real threat, a group of people aiding and abetting others to marry against their parents wishes, does indeed seem dangerous. While 'RunningShaadi.com' looks like a light hearted story, I hope they do discuss these issues with some gravitas. The trailer does indicate a twist within the fun and games, where things seem to get serious. So I hope the third act of the movie does feature something similar.

Sadh has been slowly making a name for himself with movies like'Kai Po Che' and 'Sultan', and this could easily be a lead role where he holds his own. Pannu is making waves with films like 'Pink' and multiple releases in 2017. Pannu has the look of every girl-next-door that can be related to, but also has unique qualities of choosings roles that could easily make her one of Bollywood most talented actresses, given the impact she's already made with very few films. Pannu also holds the prestige of being quite possibly the only actor whose minor supporting role in a movie like 'Baby', got her a spin-off movie featuring the same character in a leading role.

Director Amit Roy makes his debut from cinematographer to feature director with this film. While it's hard to discuss what to expect from Roy as a director, he has contributed to making some amazing movies look just as beautiful over almost 15 years in Bollywood.
