Vidya Balan to essay the role of Rani Lakshmibai, Razia Sultana and Mirabai in Begum Jaan

We had reported that Vidya Balan was starring in a female-centric film titled Begum Jaan where she along with other female characters live in a brothel who become the victim of partition between India and Pakistan.

We have now learned that Vidya Balan will essay three different roles in Begum Jaan. According to the reports, she will be playing iconic characters of Rani Lakshmibai, Razia Sultana and Mirabai which is an important sequence in the film. It is very important to the storyline and her character. It is also reported that designer Ricky Roy has spent weeks to do research on that period to design Vidyas costumes.

Begum Jaan is a remake of Srijit Mukherjees Bangla hit Rajkahini which was critically acclaimed. Produced by Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt, the remake is set in Punjab. The cast includes Gauahar Khan, Pallavi Sharda, Flora Saini, Ila Arun, Mishti, Ridhima Tiwari among others and is scheduled for early 2017 release.
