We know Balaji Motion Pictures and Phantom Films Udta Punjab has been facing major problems with the censor board. Due to excessive use of abusive language and showing the drug problems of Punjab, the film has been ordered 94 cuts in all. While the team of Udta Punjab has received a tremendous amount of support from other filmmakers and actors, some of them actually addressed the issue to media and told their stories with CBFC.

At a recent event, Kangna Ranaut spoke about how the filmmakers get bullied. She said, "We all have been very concerned with the way things are going. I am not a director and I have not been through that process. But people whom I closely work with seem extremely disturbed with the way things are and to an extent they feel bullied. They know there is a process of certification. We do not have that sort of parental attitude towards audiences that we need to protect them."

Kangna Ranaut who won a National award for her role in Vikas Bahls super-hit film Queen revealed about how their film went through censor check. She said, "In Queen, there was a little funny moment where a boy spots a bra on my bed. So the director called me and said the censor is blurring the bra as they think it is vulgar. My director was furious. As artists, we dont see it as a danger to society. There is nothing vulgar about a womans bra..."

Kangna further added, "Cinema is all about detailing. We need our own creative freedom and we are definitely sort of pressed against the wall and there is so much outrage. I hope it will be addressed and hope there wont be such incidents in future."

Priyanka Chopra, who is currently in India, had also gone through the same issue during the release of her film Jai Gangaajal. Speaking in support of Udta Punjab controversy, the actress said, "Our forefathers achieved freedom of speech and expression for us after a long struggle... Creativity should not be stopped in democracy. In a democracy, you cannot dictate what one should eat or watch a movie on a social issue."

Udta Punjab has also received an order to remove Punjab from its title. To this, Priyanka Chopra responded, "Title is the creativity of every producer and director. So, how can it be changed?"

Last week, Akshay Kumars film Housefull 3 released and has already become one of the successful films of 2016. When asked about Udta Punjab issue, the actor chose to remain mum but spoke about the time when his film Desi Boyz had run in with the censor board. He said, "Nothing like that. I made a film which was very entertaining, Desi Boyz, it got an adult certificate. Eros International (producer) knows about it. So theres nothing like that. If it gets stuck, it gets stuck."

As reported earlier, Udta Punjab had a hearing earlier this afternoon in Bombay High Court and the verdict will be out on Monday June 13, 2016.
