Ram Gopal Varmas keenly anticipated Veerappan has been granted an A certificate by the Censor Board with a few minor changes. One key scene that has been chopped off involves Sandeep Bhardwaj (who essays the title role) when he says that LTTE chief Prabhakaran had killed Rajiv Gandhi.

Bollywood Hungama spoke to writer director Ram Gopal Varma who said that he tried to reason out with the Censor Board officials that the Supreme Court judgement in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case had clearly named Prabhakaran as the key conspirator so if Veerappan says that in the film then it wont be something new. "The Censor Board officials told me that some Tamil groups may create problems with Veerappan mentioning Prabhakaran as Rajiv Gandhis killer so we relented," Mr Varma said.

RGV also confirmed one more scene that has been slightly altered involving the killing of an infant. "The scene looks even better with a minor alteration," he said. The Kannada film Killing Veerappan did very well at the Box Office and was widely appreciated by the Critics.
