Akshay Kumar to get top billing with Rajinikanth in 2.0

Akshay Kumar is getting top billing in the Robot sequel all across the country. It is reliably learnt that all the posters, teasers, trailers and promotional material for the eagerly-awaited film would carry Akshay Kumar alongside Rajinikanth.

This is unusual for a Rajinikanth starrer, where all other actors barring the Thalaiva get lower billing.

Says a source very close to the film, The thing is that the producers of Robot 2.0 hope to sell the film to the Hindi belt on the basis of Akshay Kumar s presence. For all his iconic status, Rajini s films do not work in North India. Even Robot, in 2010, was not a big success in Hindi. With Akshay Kumar playing against Rajinikanth, the makers of Robot 2.0 hope to make a kill in both the Hindi and non-Hindi market. Hence, the film will be marketed as a Rajinikanth–Akshay Kumar two-hero film all across the country.
