Nawazuddin Siddiqui is known as a powerhouse of talent, and one of the finest actors in Bollywood right now. Known for his art house and unconventional films and roles like the critically acclaimed 'Raman Raghav 2.0', Siddiqui has recently been changing gears. His last release saw the actor in a comedic role as an accidental thug turned golfer in 'Freaky Ali'. However, that seems to have been only the beginning of many changes in his career.
Take a look at Nawazuddin Siddiqui's look in 'Munna Michael' below, and read on for why it's amazing.
Bollywood actors that are leading men, traditionally considered the heroes, rarely change their looks for roles they play in movies. This is mostly due to the fan-culture driven industry that sells the stars themselves, than the actual movies they are in. Given that, very few mainstream Bollywood actors choose to alter their image too drastically for a movie role, in fear of alienating their loyal fanbase.
When some actors do decide to experiment however, it's usually already established 'heartthrobs' and other leading men, who will don a de-glamorized look, to transform themselves into gritty and less than polished versions of themselves. This is usually more for shock value as a novelty, than anything demanded by the role. Sometimes. I wrote an article about actors who reinvented themselves for a role, which can be found here.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui is one actor whose popularity and career has been established because of his acting prowess and choice of roles, than any superficial factors. Considered one of Bollywood best actors of today, Siddiqui has been part of very few movies that were conventionally commercial in nature, and his roles being even less traditional than most.
So it's very refreshing and interesting as hell to see the talented actor transform himself but into a more glossy and conventional leading man image, than anything the actor has done before, for his role in the upcoming 'Munna Michael'. And he looks good doing it.
Siddiqui's transformation comes almost in reverse than most Bollywood actors, first establishing his acting prowess, before getting dolled up for the masses with a commercially appealing look.
Especially when you consider that this isn't just a superficial change, to make the art house actor more relevant or appealing to a commercial film audience. Its actually very much part of the role he is playing in the movie.
As discussed in our round up of everything about 'Munna Michael', Siddiqui is playing a role as a dance student, under the tutelage of Tiger Shroff's character. These images prove just how the role will be that of a young and urban man, rather than ones we're most used to seeing Siddiqui as.
Siddiqui will also undergo dance lessons to realistically play a dance student, in a movie that is said to feature a somewhat love triangle between the lead Tiger Shroff and Siddiqui's character. Based on these images, he can definitely give Shroff a run for his money.
