'Raid' (March 16)
I love when Ajay Devgn does smaller movies with a gritty story and based on some sort of realism. The last time he was able to impress as an actor was in 'Drishyam' back in 2015, and 'Raid' definitely seems to be a return to that kind of storytelling. The movie is also based on real events, which director Raj Kumar Gupta has some experience with, given one of his previous films was 'No One Killed Jessica'.
While many films have been made on the subject of tax raids, the best being 'Special 26', which was more of a con man story, 'Raid' seems to be a straight up dramatic film. The story seems localized to one specific incident, while I'm sure we'll get flashbacks or time jumps leading up to that event throughout the film.
The director of 'Raid', is the most interesting, given that, years ago, his adaptation of another real life incident proved to be a critical hit. Devgn definitely suits the subject matter of this film, and the movie over all looks incredibly commendable.
