During a family wedding. A father and son travel from Punjab, India to London, U.K. to participate in the ceremony. Once in London, they learn that the neighborhood is being terrorized by Caucasian skinheads, who want to drive all Asians back to the countries of their birth.
The son (Sohail Khan) one day spots one of the skinheads harassing his sister-in-law outside their house. He thrashes the skin head and his friends thereby standing up strongly against the bullying for the first time. When the leader of the skinheads, Cain, comes to know about this incident, he asks his men not to interfere with this Indian guy, as the skinheads are not the only ones who hate Indians – the Pakistanis hate them more. Cain decides to do what the East India Company did in the 19th century – divide and rule. But then Cain finds out that the Pakistani befriends the Indians, he kills the Pakistani.
Later the protagonist beats up Cain and gets him arrested for the murder of Aslam Firoz.I Proud to Be an Indian also marked the cinematic debut of aspiring young actor James Owen in the role of Monk who in one particularly powerful scene threatened to open a can of Whoop Tushie all over one of the other men in the film.
