After releasing a cool first look Poster, Shahrukh Khan and Alia Bhatt starrer 'Dear Zindagi' gets its first teaser.
Take a look at the first Teaser for 'Dear Zindagi' below and read on for why I am very disappointed with it.
As I mentioned when the Poster was released, 'Dear Zindagi' is a coming of age story about a young filmmkaer (Alia Bhatt) and her journey through life, learning to accept her trials and enjoy living. She embarks on this journey with her mentor and, as the Teaser seems to confirm, her therapist. (Shahrukh Khan)
The Teaser doesn't really give us much of anything. A short scene showcasing the bubbliness and light hearted nature of both characters. A pseudo song-montage. And a slap stick scene that, again, doesn't tell us anything.
As far as Teasers go though, they're not supposed to give us much insight into the story, but more of a sizzle reel of images from the movie, out of context to build excitement. 'Dear Zindagi' even fails in that regard. Featuring only three scenes at the most, the Teaser really doesn't put its best foot forward. Each actor says 2 lines of dialogue and then it's over just as abruptly as it began.
But we can attempt to decipher some things from this semi-Teaser, I guess. Shahrukh Khan seems extremely comfortable in the role, and his massive star-like ego seems to have been left behind, as he comes off super easy going and natural. Bhatt looks to be playing her similar bubbly, quirky and klutzy girl that we've seen in countless other performances thus far. Again, this is only based on 2 scenes and 2 lines of dialogue. So take it for what you will.
The movie does look beautiful. The shots looks cinematic, while still being toned down with some realism. The sound feels like director Gauri Shinde has used on location sync sound, which definitely allows the audience to immerse themselves completely within the movie. I'm hoping this 'Take 1' Teaser is one of many to come, similar to the snippets of video Khan & Bhatt shared online.
