Madhuri Dixit in 'Gulaab Gang'
The graceful legend that is Madhuri Dixit returned on screen with a different kind of choreography, as she played the violent and badass women's activist in 'Gulaab Gang'. The movie itself was a sort of casting coup given that it featured Dixit as a rural feminist, while the usually bubbly Juhi Chawla played a crooked politician.
Many scenes featured Dixit going all out in heavily choreographed action sequences that saw her throwing guys left and right, and even some sequences with heavy weaponry being wielded, with very minimal to no use of a body double during any of the scenes.
The movie didn't really resonate with critics of audiences, but one cannot help but appreciate what a different role it was for Dixit to attempt. The physical nature of the performance was immensely commendable, and newer actresses can definitely look to Dixit's example for how to keep mixing things up in the industry.
