Varun Dhawan to turn director-producer

With actors branching out in varied professions and exploring other aspects of filmmaking, Gen Y star Varun Dhawan too wants to follow a similar path. He recently revealed that he has been fascinated with direction and has been working on scripts for quite some time now.

In fact, being surrounded by directors, father David Dhawan and brother Rohit, Varun presented two scripts to them in order to get their opinion but both the scripts were rejected by them. Not disappointed by the response, Varun asserted that he takes their suggestions quite seriously but at the same time maintained that he has his own style of filmmaking and often makes these as his learning experiences.

On the other hand, Varun expressed his desire to make a much darker film, which he will not only direct but also produce it if need be and may also act in it. However, before dipping his hands into filmmaking, the star added that he likes to take opinions of people who are close to him, which besides his family, include his mentor Karan Johar and a couple of his friends outside the industry. He often consults them by explaining to them briefly about a plot, probably a two-liner in order to gauge their reactions.

Further, Varun Dhawan has also stated that he will be focusing only on feature films since he has made several short films during his student years.
