After all the highs and lows that the upcoming film Udta Punjab had faced since the last few weeks, Bombay High Court gave them a new lease of life by allowing the films release with just one cut and a few changes.

Just as when the makers of Udta Punjab thought their ordeals were over, there came yet another roadblock. This time round, it was from Human Rights Awareness, a Jalandhar-based NGO, who had petitioned the Supreme Court against the Bombay High Courts order, in which it had directed the Censor Board to clear the film with one cut.

The NGO Human Rights Awareness not only said that Udta Punjab showed Punjab in an extremely poor light, but also pleaded that the High Court cannot decide on the deletions that were to be made in a film. Reacting to the NGOs lawyers request of hearing his plea urgently as the films release was just a couple of days away, the Supreme Court asked the petitioner to complete all the paper work, before it announces its decision of whether to take up the case or not.
